Places to go, things to see (and buy)!

  • Cool Mini or Not (Plays host to some of the most amazing painted figures you'll ever see. Huge community. A great source for inspiration)
  • Smartmax (A place and shop to find some of the most unique and beautifully detailed resin-cast figures in the industry)
  • Studio McVey (Official home to industry legend Mike Mcvey and his equally talented wife Ali. A key inspiration for me starting this project up, the Studio McVey figures are absolutely gorgeous, designed and sculpted by some of the biggest names in the industry. Wonderful stuff).
  • Eolith Miniatures (Home to former GW sculptor/painter Steve Buddle, Eolith is made of of wonderful 54mm resin models. Steve's also a fantastic bloke, and has helped eversomuch during my setting up. Buy loads from him. Now.
  • Kingdom Death (A new company, primarily designed to be a board game (well, kinda), but until that's done you can see and buy (if you're quick) some fantastic (and completely unique) resin figures. I say be quick - I mean it! The initial runs of the figures is around 100, and when gone they won't be coming back until the game's released.
  • VoodooWorx (Online store selling wonderful resin plinths of many different sizes and shapes. Run by Wil Davies, who is also an absolutely superb painter - his Duel entry won gold in Golden Demon 2009. He's really very good. And his plinths are super.
  • Studio Giraldez (The blog of extraordinarily talented Angel Giraldez. He paints like a whirling dervish and the quality is just amazing. Angel has seemingly painted for more mini companies than I've had hot dinners, so he definitely knows his stuff! I'm honoured that he's taken the time to paint up one of my figures, and look forward to more!)
  • BNS Miniatures A new company run by Iain Hale. Iain's been painting figures for a long time, but has taken the step to producing resin plinths too! I wish his the very best of luck, and you should all check out his stuff :)
Forums to visit!
  • Platoon Britannica (A lovely, friendly forum for folk to show off their painting skills and get proper feedback. At GD 2009, PB members took home a huge swathe of demons - including 40k Squad GOLD, Duel GOLD and the biggie - the SLAYER SWORD. So, these guys know what they're doing. Kind of. Anyway, it's a lovely place.
  • WAMP (Great forum, and friendly too. Some fantastic work by the guys there mean that they run regular sponsored competitions and there are some superb prizes on offer throughout the year)
  • OZ Painters (As the name suggests, it's a forum for painters in Oz. However, the fact is that there is an absolutely enormous wealth of talent down under. I make no apologies for saying I personally find some of the painters there at the absolute top of the pile when it comes to the hobby. It might be primarily used by Australian fellows, but everyone's made more than welcome. Go and get inspired.
