After thinking about it for an absolute age, the new JoeK Lottery starts from the third figure, and will be happening with each new release! In a nut-shell, this is what will happen:

  • The first 100 of any new figure sold will be sent with a lovely certificate, which is craftily also a raffle ticket, entitling the owner to participate in a draw!
  • When the 100 have sold, I'll pick out a random number (or get some random stranger to blurt it out).
  • The bearer of the winning number wins the fabulous prize of all JoeK Mini's future releases up until the end of 2011. All free!
I do hope that sounds like quite a cool prize! Admittedly, it does all depend on if I actually survive trading for that long, otherwise you might just get a consignment of unsold old figures...but...y'know, maybe that would work too! One reason for the change is that I've decided to stop doing limited edition runs on new figures - it doesn't really work as far as I'm concerned, and I'm gradually becoming of the opinion that it p****s off just as many folks as them who likes it!

The other reason is a but sadder, but basically all of my own silly making. You can read about it down below...

Well, the original idea of the JoeK Lottery was to give away Angel Giraldez's magnificent painted figure of the Elf Lord to one of you kind folks who bought one of the 300 to be made. In theory, this is still place and I'd like nothing better than to sell through and send it off.

In reality, the chances of me ever selling the remaining amounts of the 300 are looking more and more remote :( . Not through lack of interest in the figure, more that the original inspiration for the figure have taken slight objections with me carrying on producing him. Whilst I'm not going to spell out where the idea came from, I suspect the majority of folk even remotely interested in fantasy have worked out that he is most definitely not an original idea. I naively thought nothing of this when I was making the figure - indeed, I was just so eager to make it, that I neglected to ask proper permissions, rather stupidly thinking that it was an old image and no-one would really have remembered it. It was - in retrospect - a daft thing to do, and definitely something I'm not particularly proud of. The original author was most gracious enough to not start any sort of C&D on me (for which I'm terribly grateful), but I'm duty bound not to produce any more. I've sent some emails to see if there's any way to come to an agreement by which I could finish the run, but I suspect because I'm a rather small fish in a large sea, my requests are missed.

Despite this, I'm proud of the first figure. I don't think it could be in any way described as a cheap cash-in - indeed, if that was ever the intention, then it blatantly hasn't worked! One day I might get the money back on it, but that hasn't happened yet!

You'll be the first to know if and when I can get him up and running again, and maybe one day someone will be the proud owner of Angel's Elf Lord :) .

The final thing I'll say on the matter is this: Lesson learned, and it won't be happening again.

Terms & Conditions

Joe's decision is final. The gods of the draw tell no lies. Folk who have bought multiple figures have all been given the relevant amount of certificates, so the more you buy, the more chances you get of winning!

Please note, there is no cash/product alternative to the prizes offered, and also note that I have got very detailed lists of who's got what number, so don't you be trying to trick me!!
